Jenn’s 2015 TV Recap #1

It’s been a very interesting 2014-15 season in TV. We had several new shows with shortened seasons for various reasons. Some were between hiatus filler shows and some were shorter for actorly reasons and a few seem to be testing out the shorter season in general. Whatever the reason, we’ve had several season finales already, so why not get a jump on the TV Recaps. You agree? Awesome! Let’s see what we’ve got.

Sleepy Hollow (FOX)

As long as Icabod is hilarious and Abbie is fierce, I’ll continue to watch this show. I didn’t hate on Katrina as much as some other people did early this season and just when I was really starting to like her they went and made her character do a compelte 180. I’m kinda done with her now, but it’ll be nice for her to be the villain for a while.

Agent Carter (ABC)

I enjoyed this limited run series. I hope it does come back. The chemistry between Carter and Jarvis was fantastic. When they added in Stark to the mix it was even better. That is where the heart and soul of this show is and should be the main focus for #2 if they get one. Peggy is a sassy character, perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Which I love. Especially for the 40s when we know it really wasn’t that easy. And here I thought the Mad Men 60s were harsh. Damn.

Suits (USA)

I still enjoy this show but I would like to see them do more actual cases. You know, in a courtroom. Louis almost lost me this time, but thankfully they pulled him back and kept him in the mix. He’s a good bad guy, but he’s better when he’s the office antagonist. I’m really not sure what the hell Donna is thinking, but I guess people want her and Harvey shipped. I don’t. Meh.

Covert Affairs (USA)

I’m really pissed this show got canceled. Maybe Netflix will pick it up? Maybe Eyal will get his own spinoff.  :-(

Galavant (ABC)

The song lyrics were hilarious. The rest of the dialogue was ok at best. The actors were great, though, especially Timothy Omundson, it was weird to see him back as Cain on Supernatural afterwards. LOL

The Taste (NBC?)

I’ll watch anything with Anthony Bourdain in it. That is all.

How To Get Away With Murder (ABC)

This show started with a bang and ended with an even bigger one. It may be a tough format to keep up with, but the characters are well fleshed out and the stakes are “real” within that universe so it makes for some very tense situations. Annalise is crazy and I love it.

There are a few more coming up this week and next, I think, so maybe I’ll do another soon. Did you watch any of the above? What did you like? What did you hate?

2014 Fall TV Recap Part 1

It’s that time again friends! I know, you wait for theses all year long. Tehehe.

Most of the shows I watch sign off in the next two weeks, but we had a few early finales, so we’ll talk about those.

FYI – Possible SPOILERS!

Blacklist –

I’m not as into it as much as I was the first season and I think Liz & Ressler have a lot to do with it. I get that you need conflict, but it’s really annoying when every single show that has some type of law enforcement officer in it has to deal with prescription drug or alcohol addiction. It’s a little played out for me. Liz is annoying. Red is the the only reason I watch the show right now, he kills it every single week…and sometimes someone.

How To Get Away With Murder –

Wow. Just wow! While I took a guess that it was Wes who killed Sam to save Rebecca from him, I didn’t expect all the other stuff before and after it. Wow. There are so many avenues each of the characters can go in the next half of the season, so I’m very excited to see how they play out. One of my favorite freshman shows ever. I just hope they can keep it up.

Scandal –

I feel really bad for whoever has Olivia. Fitz is gonna sic Jake who will probably recruit Huck and  man…I don’t want to be whoever that dude/dudette is. The VP probably won’t make it to the end of the season alive either for his part. Many of the side plots and “fixee of the week” plots are much more interesting to me than who Olivia should be with, but I’m very happy she finally came to terms with the fact that she loves them both, for different reasons, and really doesn’t want to chose. However, whenever she and Fitz are together, man, they have some scorching chemistry. Also, as creepy as it has been, Quinn and Charlie make much more sense than Quinn and Huck.

The Walking Dead –

I was never a big Beth fan. I kinda wanted her to die, a lot, over the last few seasons. So after some douche ruined it for me that she was going to die, I went into the episode with a different outlook. When Michonne told Maggie they’d found Beth and she was ok…I was really pissed and sad that I got spoiled. Grrr. I’ll never know what my reaction would have been or whether I would have been sadder at the sudden loss. Going in and knowing only made me super sad for Maggie which made the end even harder for me having lost a sibling myself. I think the shock factor would have suited me better. Meh. However this season has been great. I love the focus on our group again with all the outside plots and characters staying minimal. I still do not like the episodes where they focus on one separate group, I like all the groups mixed into the episodes.

Sleepy Hollow –

There is so much Katrina hate out there, I really don’t get it. Sure, she has to be rescued a lot. But A. Not her fault-blame the writers. B. It’s not like she’s from present time and completely understands our world yet. C. It really is okay to be a damsel in distress when, you know, a fucking headless undead ax wielding demon is in love with you. and D. Your witch/dammed son is working for another demon who is hell bent on starting the apocalypse. I think people just want to get rid of her because they want Ichabod and Abbie to get together, which I really, really, really don’t want to see happen. I like them just the way they are. That being said, I’ve enjoyed this season, I like the longer arch stories as opposed to the creature of the week, which they still do, and I like that they are expanding the cast a little. I would have liked to see more of the Reenactment Tailor girl, (forgot her name) I thought she was adorable and loved her interactions with Ichabod. It’s cooky but I love it.

More to come next week!

Jenn’s MiniTV Recap #4

We’re almost done with this years season premiers. A few left throughout October and a handful more when Mid-Season comes around. Let’s see how it went! Possible spoilers this time!

In no particular order….

Revenge – I’m only still watching this show because I want to know what happens to Victoria. With Conrad out of the picture the show seems to have lost something. But now that David is back, I’m reinvested in Emily.

Selfie – Yes, I watched it. Yes, I knew it was loosely based on My Fair Lady. Yes, I’m a Whovian. Yes, I love John Cho. So how could I not watch this? First two episodes were cute. I chuckled a few times. I’m not digging Eliza’s accent and think it would have been better is she talked like her normal self. If I get bored I may keep watching, but I rarely watch comedies these days.

Vampire Diaries – If we could get away without having Elena on this show, I would be a happy girl. I like every single one of her Doppelganger personalities more than Elena. I think I hate her even more now after the memory wipe. Damon is still hot, so that’s worth it.

Originals – Klaus needs to just be evil. I don’t like him when he’s trying to be redeemable. Elijah is hot. He’s really the main reason I watch this one.

Flash – LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s got heart and a fantastic cast with great chemistry. I have nothing bad to say about this show…yet.

Arrow – Great season premier, probably my second fave over all this year. (I’ll get to #1) I was shocked but not surprised by the last few mins of the episode, and I really, really, really, love Oliver and Felicity’s chemistry. Shame it’ll never happen.

Criminal Minds – I’m sure the new chick, yeah yeah, JLH will grow on me. I just don’t like when the writers force us to like them by making them buddy buddy with someone on the show so quickly. It never happens like that. lol

The Walking Dead – Best season opener ever! I don’t think I’ve liked any other season premier more than I did this one, seriously, ever. I hope the rest of the episodes keep this awesome momentum going. Wow! And Carol! I love that woman.

What about you? What did you watch and love or watch and hate? Any new shows on your Must See  list now?
