Jenn’s TV Recap #4!

Okay, I think this is the last one, right? Probably not, but for now, it’s what I’ve got.

Possible Spoilers ahead!

Let’s start with…

Agents of SHIELD (ABC)
Such a great season! Not sure about a few things, like where they’re taking Simmons, and why they had to kill Trip, he was awesome! But I love the introduction of the Inhumans, and I had a feeling than Anya Jiaying was going to be bad. Shame, she was a great character to explore a little more. I kinda felt bad for Ward, for a minute, but then I got over it. Hope Cal comes back. Favorite characters will always and forever be May and Coulson.

American Idol (Fox)
Jax should have won. That is all.

Arrow (CW) That’s a lot of A’s…
I LOVE THIS FREAKING SHOW. Yeah, I am on a Superhero kick, and this is probably #2 but a close #2, I’ll get to #1 later. Fave Characters are still Oliver, Dig, and Felicity, though I have to say Thea didn’t bother me as much as normal. The fight scenes are some of the best on TV, hands down, and I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of watching Merlyn on screen.

CSI: Cyber (CBS)
I’ve given up on all the other CSI, though I will watching the two hour finale send off movie if Grissom comes back! However, nothing else was on, so I decided to watch, because I love the Beek and Bow Wow is so cute and Patricia just won the Oscar, so how could I not? It’s more in the vein of Criminal Minds than a normal CSI show, so that probably helped. It also scared the CRAP out of me with what people can do online. Turn off your location people! Don’t geo tag your photos! Yikes.

The Vampire Diaries (CW)
I’m in it for for the long haul, apparently. Now that Elena is gone, I’m curious to see where it goes. Her send off was HORRIBLE! I mean, really? A Magical Coma? Bleh. I don’t like Enzo. I don’t like their mother. I love Alaric and loved Jo…wtf? At least Jeremy came back to say goodbye. Meh. I’ll watch for Damon.

Scandal (ABC)
Oh. My. God. When Eli screamed OLIVIA I had goosebumps. You go girl! Not that I think it’ll last and the repercussions are going to be bad. Good on Jake for getting the fuck out. I would have, too. Fitz and Mellie are such an odd pair and honestly, he shouldn’t have kicked her out. However, I think she’ll do just fine. 🙂 They need to so something new with Huck, and if they’re smart, they’ll end next season, but I doubt that’ll happen.

Mad Men (AMC)
Weird season. They did the best they could, I guess. I’m glad it’s over, it wasn’t great the last couple of seasons, I wanted more advertising drama, not people drama. Oh well.

The Flash (CW)
#1 Favorite Superhero Show! TIME TRAVEL!! You will always win me with Time Travel. Joe and Barry are the heart and soul of this show. The special effects are amazing. It’s fun and lighthearted and serious and angsty all at the same time. What more could you ask for? A super, Supervillain? Yep, Wells/Thawne was fantastic and I’m so happy they’re gonna find a way to bring Tom Cavanaugh back! I didn’t really like the last bit after Barry came back from the past, I hope they have a good explanation because they have a lot of paradoxes to untangle.

Survivor (CBS)
I only watched half the season. I just wasn’t into it. Glad Mike won, seems like he deserved it.

Supernatural (CW)
I like this season more than last, but I do miss the old school Supernatural. I will say, I am kinda tired of every season ender being about one of the brothers saving the other because of something stupid they did early in the season. As long as Cass and Crowley are back and someone please kill Rowena. Don’t like her. At all.

So, that’s it.

We have So You Think You Can Dance and Under the Dome coming up soon. I may check out one or two other summer shows, but you know, I should be writing!

How about you? Which Finale did you love, which did you hate?

Jenn’s 2014 Fall TV Recap #2

I have enough shows to do another recap!

I’ll probably have one more after this…I know how you love them. 🙂

Possible spoilers!

Arrow

I love this show so much. I mean, I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH! I’ve watched season 1 three times, season 2 twice and most of the eps from season 3 twice as well. I’m watching the mid-season finale again tonight. I love the action, the fight scenes, the feels and the sads. Mostly I love the relationships, they all feel real. Ollie, Diggle, and Felicity have the perfect chemistry and every single scene two or all three of them are in are amazing. The bad guys have great back stories as well and their reasons for being evil or evil-ish are usually very convincing and not usually for stupid nonsensical reasons. (*Cough* OUAT) This will probably go down as my favorite Superhero-ComicBook series ever.

The Flash

This show is a close second to Arrow. Hey, don’t get me wrong, I LOVED Smallville, but this show is much more fun (for now) and the special effects are great in comparison to what they had to work with back in the Smallville days. Again, the relationships on this show are amazing. Every serious scene between Barry and Joe usually makes me tear up, I really believe them. I think they probably get along very well in real life. It’s hard to fake such great chemistry. I’m super excited to get into the whole Time Travelness of Flash’s world, because it’s a big part, and I’m sure we’ll have a really good explanation for the mid-season finale.

Agents of SHIELD

I didn’t hate the first season like some people did. I thought it was fun and different. This season, so far, has been astounding. So many reveals and action scenes and tender moments and feels! Don’t you love Bad-Ass Skye? She and May need to have a huge fight with someone in the next half of the season. I still love Coulson’s one liners. His delivery always cracks me up. I’m not too happy with what they did to Trip in the finale, so I hope they find a way to bring him back. I’m also looking forward to the Agent 33-Ward situation, that’s gonna be fun to watch.

Castle

One of the few cop procedurals I still watch. I can’t help myself, Castle is a great character. As a writer, that’s what I tend to focus on the most. Him being a writer is just icing, ya know. I love when the show is silly or has a wacky premise or potential conspiracy theory type plot or mystery. They do them so well. The serious ones are fine, too, and I’m so happy that Beckett and Castle’s relationship is still the same for the most part. Despite being a hopeless romantic, sometimes when TV couples get together the fizz just fizzles out. 🙂

The Originals

I freely admit the only reason I started watching this show is because of Elijah and Hayley. Their chemistry on The Vampire Diaries was unbelievably hot. I don’t know why they had to mess with it so much. I’m kinda not invested in them anymore. However, thanks to some clever plotting and mama drama, I’m enjoying Klaus again. He’s a dick, and he’s always had a great reason to be a dick, but now I want him to be a dick. I like evil Klaus way more than when anyone tries to redeem him. I like the original Kol more, too, but the kid playing him now is cute, and I like him with Davina, so we’ll see what happens.

The Vampire Diaries

I’m not sure why I’m watching this show still, probably because Alaric is back, I love him. The show has SO many inconsistencies even I’ve noticed them, but Damon is fun to watch when he’s bad and I think Caroline and Stefan would have been good together, but like The Originals, it’s a little too late now, I won’t buy it. I think it’s time for Elena to make her final choice between the brothers and put this show to bed. I’d LOVE to see a few of the characters move over to The Originals because they’re good characters for the most part, it’s just the whole love triangle thing is over and done, cooked and burnt.

Criminal Minds

Another procedural I watch, but, I have to admit, I’ve been fast forwarding through parts here and there, because, for the most part, it’s always the same story. I think it’s time for someone in the group to be in jeopardy again, or the team as a whole needs another Reaper or something. I like that they are giving the characters more personal life stuff to draw off because it wasn’t something they did often in the first few seasons. I’m not really sure what else they can do, not that they have to, it’s still a highly rated TV show, I’m just not as excited as I used to be to watch. I’ll never stop, though. Duh.

So I think I have another handful of shows left for this fall season. What did you think of the season so far? Are you watching any Winter shows like Agent Carter?!? I’m already watching The Taste. 🙂

Jenn’s TV Recap Part Deux #ClarkGregg #JamesSpader

All righty, a few more shows have ended this week…are you sad? I am. But I also have some awesome summer shows I’m looking forward to as well!

So, let’s get to it.

Oh, wait…POSSIBLE SPOILERS! Don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

Once Upon a Time (ABC)

Why I started watching: Live action Disney/FairyTale characters? There was no way I wasn’t watching this show.

What did I think of this season? While I don’t miss Neverland, I miss Pan. I really wish “Henry” would have stayed in Pan, though the kid’s voice dropped this season and he grew a few inches between the first and last episodes and it seems like he’s a bit more tolerable this year. The last quarter of the season turned about to be pretty awesome, then they had to go and recycle the same damn plot. Really? REALLY? ugh.

Will I watch next season? Yes. I’m invested now, might as well…

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)

Why I started watching: Clark Gregg’s Coulson.  And when I found out Ming-Na Wen was going to be in it, it just made me squee even more.

What did I think of this season? I have no complaints, at all. Even the filler episodes were fun and exciting.  I love it when shows surprise me. There were many things I didn’t see coming, and the ones I did see coming were still shocking because of some well placed twists and hints.  I didn’t need to have Superheroes in this show. The references and guest stars more than made up for it. Though, I must admit, it’s a helluva lot funnier when Fury and Coulson are in the room together. They need a buddy cop movie STAT!

Will I watch next season? Heck yeah. No question.

Revenge (ABC)

Why I started watching: I think my mom told me I need to watch it, so I did.

What did I think of this season? Charlotte’s still alive. Meh. I don’t want Conrad to be dead because he was just getting villainy good! That last speech was amazingly evil. Overall the story is back on track, but I’m really not sure about the surprise twist at the end. I don’t buy it. It doesn’t make sense to me, at all. So, they better have a really good explanation as to why David Clarke is alive and WHY he was watching from the shadows for the last four years while his daughter went all Revengey.

Will I watch next season? Yes, provided they don’t jump the shark or go into crazy theory land, I’ll stick with it.

Castle (ABC)

Why I started watching: It was as story about a writer working with the NYPD to solve crimes. Just about every writer I knew was watching, too.

What did I think of this season? Pretty good. Castle is one of the few shows that has been able to put their two leads together and still keep it interesting without breaking them up or throwing stupid complications at them (save the finale). The last several episodes were very awesome and I love how they finally got around to Beckett’s mother’s murder. They showcased Ryan & Espo in a few great episodes this year. I was actually worried one of them was going to die this year.

Will I watch next season? Yeah, even though the finale was ANNOYING and a very silly thing to do. Don’t pretend to kill a main character and then while the credits are rolling have the announcer say said main character will be back in the fall. Didn’t that just negate the whole cliffhanger thing you “tried” to pull off? Miserable fail.

Glee (Fox)

Why I started watching: I love to sing. I love musicals. And I have fond memories of being in a glee club.

What did I think of this season? This season is kinda meh for me. I miss the school setting and the teachers and all those amazing topical things they used to cover. While I understand TPTB wanted to focus on Rachel, Kurt and their friends, I enjoyed it more when it was ABOUT THE GLEE CLUB! Yes, I understand the death of one of their main lead characters forced them to do something different, but I liked that new group of kids at McKinley High. This show could have gone on for another 5 or 6 years if they kept it the way it was. Whatever.

Will I watch next season? Meh, yeah…I’ll still watch because the songs/singers are usually fantastic.

The Blacklist (NBC)

Why I started watching: James Spader

What did I think of this season? Amazing. Fantastic. Outstanding! So many little things I loved in this show. Dembe, Red’s speeches, Crazy Tom. I know some people have issue with the actress playing Lizzy, but since I am not an actor, unless someone is reallllly bad, I usually don’t notice the acting, acting part of it all. I allow myself to get invested in the characters. I didn’t mind the actress, but I kinda thought Liz was dumb a lot of the time. But, then again, she is a rookie who was thrust into a crazy situation. I don’t think Tom is dead. Hope not. And I think, Red saved Lizzy from the fire, but he’s not her father.

Will I watch next season? Yes. I missed the last TV show Spader was in, so I made sure to catch this one. He’s hilarious in this show. I know, probably a weird word choice, but he is.

Vikings (History)

Why I started watching: I became a fan of History Channel documentaries back in the early 2000’s. While they don’t seem to do as many as they have, some of their original programming is worth catching. Vikings, being the first scripted series certainly got my attention, so I watched to see what it was all about.

What did I think of this season? Wow. Just wow! This is season two, and I can honestly say I’ve NEVER seen some of the things they’ve done in this show when it comes to war and battle. I watch a lot of movies and shows about war, old and new, so I’ve seen quite a variety. But the Vikings writers really did their research and showed some of the coolest battle tactics I’ve ever seen.

It’s loosely based on real people and the cast is amazing. It’s worth a binge watch or two. In face I’m thinking of a rewatch already.

Will I watch next season? Yes, yes, yes.

Shows I stopped watching this season:

Tomorrow People (CW) I got to about 8 or 9 and then I just didn’t care anymore, which made no sense to me considering A. I watched the 90’s version on Nick and loved it. 2. It’s about people with powers! I write that shit. and III. It has a great cast of actors and totally should have worked. Ah well.

Hawaii 5-O (CBS) I didn’t even make it to the FansPick The Plot episode. Not sure why I lost interest here either. Just did.

So, did you watch any of the above? Which did you hate and which did you love?
