2014 Fall TV Recap Part 1

It’s that time again friends! I know, you wait for theses all year long. Tehehe.

Most of the shows I watch sign off in the next two weeks, but we had a few early finales, so we’ll talk about those.

FYI – Possible SPOILERS!

Blacklist –

I’m not as into it as much as I was the first season and I think Liz & Ressler have a lot to do with it. I get that you need conflict, but it’s really annoying when every single show that has some type of law enforcement officer in it has to deal with prescription drug or alcohol addiction. It’s a little played out for me. Liz is annoying. Red is the the only reason I watch the show right now, he kills it every single week…and sometimes someone.

How To Get Away With Murder –

Wow. Just wow! While I took a guess that it was Wes who killed Sam to save Rebecca from him, I didn’t expect all the other stuff before and after it. Wow. There are so many avenues each of the characters can go in the next half of the season, so I’m very excited to see how they play out. One of my favorite freshman shows ever. I just hope they can keep it up.

Scandal –

I feel really bad for whoever has Olivia. Fitz is gonna sic Jake who will probably recruit Huck and  man…I don’t want to be whoever that dude/dudette is. The VP probably won’t make it to the end of the season alive either for his part. Many of the side plots and “fixee of the week” plots are much more interesting to me than who Olivia should be with, but I’m very happy she finally came to terms with the fact that she loves them both, for different reasons, and really doesn’t want to chose. However, whenever she and Fitz are together, man, they have some scorching chemistry. Also, as creepy as it has been, Quinn and Charlie make much more sense than Quinn and Huck.

The Walking Dead –

I was never a big Beth fan. I kinda wanted her to die, a lot, over the last few seasons. So after some douche ruined it for me that she was going to die, I went into the episode with a different outlook. When Michonne told Maggie they’d found Beth and she was ok…I was really pissed and sad that I got spoiled. Grrr. I’ll never know what my reaction would have been or whether I would have been sadder at the sudden loss. Going in and knowing only made me super sad for Maggie which made the end even harder for me having lost a sibling myself. I think the shock factor would have suited me better. Meh. However this season has been great. I love the focus on our group again with all the outside plots and characters staying minimal. I still do not like the episodes where they focus on one separate group, I like all the groups mixed into the episodes.

Sleepy Hollow –

There is so much Katrina hate out there, I really don’t get it. Sure, she has to be rescued a lot. But A. Not her fault-blame the writers. B. It’s not like she’s from present time and completely understands our world yet. C. It really is okay to be a damsel in distress when, you know, a fucking headless undead ax wielding demon is in love with you. and D. Your witch/dammed son is working for another demon who is hell bent on starting the apocalypse. I think people just want to get rid of her because they want Ichabod and Abbie to get together, which I really, really, really don’t want to see happen. I like them just the way they are. That being said, I’ve enjoyed this season, I like the longer arch stories as opposed to the creature of the week, which they still do, and I like that they are expanding the cast a little. I would have liked to see more of the Reenactment Tailor girl, (forgot her name) I thought she was adorable and loved her interactions with Ichabod. It’s cooky but I love it.

More to come next week!

Jenn’s MiniTV Recap #4

We’re almost done with this years season premiers. A few left throughout October and a handful more when Mid-Season comes around. Let’s see how it went! Possible spoilers this time!

In no particular order….

Revenge – I’m only still watching this show because I want to know what happens to Victoria. With Conrad out of the picture the show seems to have lost something. But now that David is back, I’m reinvested in Emily.

Selfie – Yes, I watched it. Yes, I knew it was loosely based on My Fair Lady. Yes, I’m a Whovian. Yes, I love John Cho. So how could I not watch this? First two episodes were cute. I chuckled a few times. I’m not digging Eliza’s accent and think it would have been better is she talked like her normal self. If I get bored I may keep watching, but I rarely watch comedies these days.

Vampire Diaries – If we could get away without having Elena on this show, I would be a happy girl. I like every single one of her Doppelganger personalities more than Elena. I think I hate her even more now after the memory wipe. Damon is still hot, so that’s worth it.

Originals – Klaus needs to just be evil. I don’t like him when he’s trying to be redeemable. Elijah is hot. He’s really the main reason I watch this one.

Flash – LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s got heart and a fantastic cast with great chemistry. I have nothing bad to say about this show…yet.

Arrow – Great season premier, probably my second fave over all this year. (I’ll get to #1) I was shocked but not surprised by the last few mins of the episode, and I really, really, really, love Oliver and Felicity’s chemistry. Shame it’ll never happen.

Criminal Minds – I’m sure the new chick, yeah yeah, JLH will grow on me. I just don’t like when the writers force us to like them by making them buddy buddy with someone on the show so quickly. It never happens like that. lol

The Walking Dead – Best season opener ever! I don’t think I’ve liked any other season premier more than I did this one, seriously, ever. I hope the rest of the episodes keep this awesome momentum going. Wow! And Carol! I love that woman.

What about you? What did you watch and love or watch and hate? Any new shows on your Must See  list now?

Jenn’s Mini TV Recap- Renamed – Part 3

Yeah, yeah, I was supposed to be back on Friday with a Weds-Thursday recap, but I forgot.

Bad blogger.

I know.

It looks like Wednesdays are my new Mondays, prior to 24 that is. I remember when NOTHING was on Monday. At least Criminal Minds is back this week.

I did watch Survivor, I’ll always watch Survivor, but not for the reason most people do. I’m a people watcher. It’s helpful when trying to write realistic characters who are very different. Survivor brings all kinds of people on the show. Utopia tried to do that, but left me feeling meh.

Scandal – The White Hat is back on! I honestly thought they would make us wait a whole episode or maybe two before Olivia came back for real, but this is Shondaland, everything happens at breakneck speeds, which I should be used to by now, but sometimes it still surprises me. How about the tension in those last few mins between Fitz and Oliva. Wow. Hot. I don’t agree with all the aspects of their relationship, but they have some off the charts chemistry even when they’re not looking at each other.

How To Get Away With Murder – This was probably the best pilot I’ve seen in ages. It was weird and quirky and creepy and funny and with a whole lot of open questions that beg to be answered. I don’t want to give anything away, but again, this is Shondaland, so you never have to wait very long for some answers. This one is a keeper!

I haven’t watched Revenge yet. I hope it’s good.

Once Upon A Time – Good start to the season, however, I’m really tired of the writers treating Regina like a ping pong ball. Let her be good for a little while, jeeze would it kill ya? She worked SO hard to overcome her crappy past, finally has friends in Storybrooke, and the respect of her son, and so what does she do about losing Robin? Turn full tilt evil again? Bleh. Other than that, I like Emma and Hook and his lack of knowledge of the present, makes for funny moments of dialogue.

The Simpsons – The season opener was okay, the cross over with Family Guy was brilliant. It poked fun at all of us and all of them. How fun!

Castle – Why do writers of TV show insist on treating their long time viewers like idiots? Every single person who watches Castle would NEVER in a million years believe that Kate, Espo, and Ryan would think Castle was “in on it” that quickly and with those few pieces of “evidence”. No, after the 2 month montage, I’d more more inclined to believe it. Either way, I’m glad this season will give us a little more Castle background. He’s a much more interesting character than everyone else on the show considering they’re all the same type of character on every other cop show.

So those are the season premiers I’ve watched so far. What are you loving so far? What are you already taking off your watch list? No spoilers!
